FAQ
What is the ‘EARTH BY’ Project?
‘EARTH BY’ is a unique, curated art project featuring many of today’s top contemporary artists, from established legends to current stars and rising new talents, all depicting their own personal vision of Earth.
Why collect via the EARTH BY store?
These works constitute a stunning and ever-growing art document for our time by some of today’s best and most widely collected artists. With the exception of a few of our earliest, archived prints, each work of art is created especially for the project; and all are available exclusively through PLANET.
The original and a series of limited-edition prints of each artist’s piece are available for purchase. By collecting any or all of the pieces, you are acquiring a unique artwork by a reputable and internationally collected artist, created with each artist’s supervision by master printers with high-quality, archival materials. You are also supporting the artist, who receives half of every purchase minus the printing expense, and two very important causes that are working to make our world a better place, charity: water and 350.org. Ten percent of your purchase, which is tax deductible, will be divided between these two exceptional organizations.
What is a limited edition?
An edition is a limited run of a particular piece of artwork. Once an edition is closed, the print cannot be reproduced, ever. PLANET works directly with the artists to offer editions for sale only through the EARTH BY gallery store. Each print comes with a certificate of authenticity which is numbered and signed by the artist. Images that are part of the EARTH BY series are available exclusively through us.
Who benefits from the sales?
With every EARTH BY print you purchase you are supporting the artists, PLANET Magazine and the furthering of this unique project, and two very important non-profit causes, charity: water and 350.org. Specifically, we split profits evenly with each artist minus production costs and a ten-percent donation to the above-mentioned charities.
What is your shipping policy?
We ship via USPS and FedEx, depending on the size and number of your items and where you are located. Most of our prints ship within 5 business days, and should arrive within 3 business days from the date of shipment.
We pack all prints either in extra-sturdy flat-pack envelopes or in tubes. Larger prints always ship in tubes and we only ship one per tube to ensure your print’s safety.
Prints up to 11 x 14 inches generally ship via USPS Priority Mail, unless you have ordered multiples, in which case they will ship via Fed Ex. Prints greater than 11 x 14 inches ship rolled in tubes via USPS Priority Mail or Fed Ex depending on size.
Can I track my Shipment?
Yes. We will email you a tracking number prior to shipping from our print facility and you will be able to track your shipment online, via USPS or Fedex websites, using the tracking number provided.
How do you ship your prints?
We pack our prints with extra care, doing our best to ensure that they won't be damaged, and all packages are labeled with special handling instructions. All prints are shipped via USPS or FedEx with a tracking code to allow us both to follow the status of your print.
All smaller prints, up to 11 x 14 inches in size, are put into protective sleeves and shipped in sturdy cardboard envelopes. Prints larger than 11 x 14 inches are also stored in protective sheets and are shipped in tubes.
What is your return policy?
PLANET Magazine wants to make sure you're happy with your purchase. You may send your purchase back to us within 14 days of receipt for a refund or exchange. No returns or exchanges will be accepted after the 14-day period.
To receive a full refund, the item must be in its original packaging, unopened or tampered with. Out of box or repackaged items may be returned but are subject to a 50-percent restocking fee. All shipping and handling charges including the original cost of delivery will be the responsibility of the customer should you decide to return or exchange an item.
What if my artwork is damaged?

We will contact you within two days to handle your claim and make sure any damaged items are replaced. Upon delivery of your items, please check your package before signing the delivery receipt. If damage is found, please inform the carrier and write a remark on the delivery paperwork. PLANET will not accept any damage claims that have not been noted upon delivery.
What if my print has a printing flaw?
The EARTH BY Project works with master printers to make gorgeous, exhibition-quality prints, and each and every print is inspected before shipping. On the rare occasion that a flawed print is shipped, we will replace it within two weeks after it is received. Please refer to the “Damaged Items” link in the footer of this page or email us directly at earthby (at) planet-mag.com
Can I receive advance notice of a new edition?
Yes, you can sign up for our newsletter that is dedicated only to EARTH BY Project notifications. This is the best way to learn about new releases early, especially if you’re interested in obtaining the original.
How do I know these prints are authentic fine art prints?
The EARTH BY Project is a unique concept developed by PLANET Magazine directly in collaboration with each artist who participates. All of the limited editions are created under the artist's direct supervision. Each print is paired with a certificate of authenticity, signed by the artist and individually numbered. All of our prints are created using some of the finest archival pigment inks available, and they are printed on high-quality fine art or photo paper.
For most prints, we use a “Giclee” printing process, which provides better color accuracy than other means of reproduction. Giclee printing is an industry accepted standard for fine art reproduction, used throughout museums and galleries. As an accepted form of fine-art reproduction, Giclee prints by well-regarded artists often appreciate in value.
Some works are reproduced as digital C-prints, per artist preference. Digital C-prints are photographic prints of extremely high quality, created using a continuous tone (i.e., no dot pattern). They are produced by exposing photographic paper with Red, Green, and Blue laser light. It differs from inkjet or offset printing because in those processes ink is sprayed on top of the paper in a dot pattern to create the image.
Do prints look as good as the images we see online?
We think the printed images look even better than the images you see online, as they are printed on high-quality exhibition paper with archival inks, making them even more dynamic in person. For viewing purposes, we try to ensure that the images you see online are accurate to the originals, however slight color variation may occur due to the tonal range of paper, your screen’s calibration, and other variables. While we use calibrated monitors, many of you may not have a calibrated monitor and are therefore seeing colors slightly different than on the print. In most cases this is not noticeable to the untrained eye.
Can I buy multiple prints?
We only allow people to buy three prints per artist. This is to ensure that a broad range of collectors will have an opportunity to purchase the prints they are interested in, and to safeguard against individuals or galleries purchasing multiple prints only to resell them at higher prices.
How do I best take care of my prints?
Once you receive your edition print, there are numerous things you can do to ensure its longevity. First, take care in handling your prints. Even if your hands are clean, there are natural oils and dirt on your skin that can rub off on the artwork. Second, for all editions shipped in a tube we strongly recommend that you lay it flat as soon as you can and keep it inside the protective glassine sheets until you can properly frame it. When framing, we recommend you use an acid-free mat board and glare-free glass with a UV-protected coating. If storing your art, try to make sure it's in a dry, well-ventilated area with moderate temperatures. Use acid-free glassine or protective paper to wrap your art. When you hang it, keep it out of direct sunlight, as this will fade your art over time.
