Straddling the thin line between absurdity and reason, Hisham Bharoocha’s work is a focused blend of meditation and daydreams — images that occur in the quieter spaces of waking life. Whether it’s visual art, underground music or photography, his creations are the careful culmination of body waves, visionary enlightenment and the mind’s inner eye. He is a founding member of the bands Black Dice and Lightning Bolt, and directs yearly musical extravaganzas featuring the Boredoms. He has exhibited at New York’s Deitch Projects and D’Amelio Terras gallery, San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and performed a sound piece at the MoMa. Hisham Bharoocha is one of the most inexhaustible, creative multi-disciplinary artists working in New York today. He lives in Brooklyn.
